Today (August 12, 2010) was the night of the Perseid Meteor Shower. Thus, I went out to Scott Park (lots of car lights from Scott Boulevard). While watching the meteors, I took this image of the Andromeda Galaxy using my Canon 300D piggyback on my old Meade Polaris EQ telescope (60mm refractor, 900mm, f/15). The EQ mount of this flimsy telescope is driven by a small motor drive. I used a Minolta MD Rokkor 135mm, f/3.5 lens (effective focal length 216mm). Exposure time 8x30s (stack of 8 images, 30s exposure time each), ISO 1600. Above M31, the smaller M110 galaxy is also visible.
