Big Dipper

Here is a picture of the big dipper. This image was taken using the Panasonic DMC-TZ1 camera with f/2.8, 5mm (35mm equivalent on 35mm camera), 60s exposure time, ISO-80. The camea was mounted piggy back on my old and inexpensive Meade Polaris 60mm refractor telescope (visible in the foreground of the image) that is mounted on a simple equatorial mount that is driven by a small motor drive. I was amazed about the outcome of this image. In the picture of Orion above, the stars have streaks because I didn't use an equatorial mount. But here, in the picture of the big dipper, no streaks are visible because the camera was mounted on a motor driven equatorial mount. Taken on 03-17-2010.
