Moon and Venus pairing

moonandvenuspairing.jpg

I met Murf at one of the Iowa City Astronomy Club observing sessions. Today (July 18, 2015), he called me and asked if we go out for an observing session. So we met at Sockum Ridge park. Murf told me that tonight would be an interesting pairing of the moon, Venus, and Jupiter. By the time we were looking for it the three celestrial objects just started to disappear behind the trees. Just enough time to get this shot of the moon and Venus. Jupiter was already hiding behind the trees. Canon 350D with standard zoom lens at 55mm (80mm equivalent on 35 mm camera). Single shot. Exposure time 1/2s at f/5.6, ISO 1600. Taken on July 18, 2015.
