Great Orion Nebula - with Point and Shoot Camera

greatorionnebulawithpointandshootcamera.jpg

This image was taken with the Panasonic DMC-TZ1 "point and shoot" camera in "starry night" mode. The camera was mounted piggy back on my small Meade Polaris 60 EQ telescope. The mount was driven by a small RA motor drive. This is a stack of 31 images taken at f/4.2, ISO 80, 52mm focal length (350mm equivalent at 35 mm camera). Exposure time was 5*60s, 17x30s, 9x15s (total exposure time 15:45 min). Some images had minor star trails so the stars are not perfectly round (but what can you expect from this low level equipment). I think the image came out well. Taken on November 16, 2010.
